Everything You Need to Know About Fresh Pressed Juices, Elixirs & Juice Cleanses

Whether you are curious about fresh-pressed juice, looking for an easy way to add more plants to your day, or preparing for your first one-day juice cleanse, we want you to feel confident about what you are drinking and why.

At Healthy Habit, our philosophy is simple: small, intentional choices can help you build healthier habits. A juice cleanse is not about punishing your body, chasing perfection, or finding a magical quick fix. Think of it as a structured day to slow down, hydrate, enjoy a colorful variety of plant ingredients, and reconnect with how your body feels.

Here is everything you need to know before getting started.

What Is Fresh-Pressed Juice?

Fresh-pressed juice is made by pressing fruits, vegetables, and roots to extract their liquid. Most of the insoluble fiber and pulp are removed, leaving a smooth, concentrated drink filled with the naturally occurring flavors and nutrients of the produce used.

Because juice contains less fiber than whole fruits and vegetables, it is not meant to replace whole foods permanently. Fiber remains an important part of a balanced diet because it supports digestion, fullness, and regularity. Fresh-pressed juice is best enjoyed alongside a lifestyle that also includes plenty of whole fruits, vegetables, grains, proteins, and healthy fats.

What Is the Difference Between a Juice, an Elixir, and a Smoothie?

Although they may all look like colorful drinks, they serve slightly different purposes.

Fresh-pressed juices are made primarily from pressed fruits, vegetables, and roots. At Healthy Habit, favorites include The Detox, Orange Burst, The Cure, Revitalize, and Heart Beet.

Elixirs are hydration superfood focused blends made with ingredients such as coconut, lemon, pineapple, ginger, turmeric, spirulina, matcha, dragon fruit, camu camu, probiotics, and hydrogen water. Each elixir offers a different flavor and combination of plant ingredients.

Smoothies are blended rather than pressed. They retain the fiber from their fruits and vegetables and may also contain ingredients such as nut butter, plant milk, protein, collagen, or superfoods. This generally makes a smoothie more filling than a juice.

None is automatically “better” than the others. The best choice depends on what sounds good and what your body needs that day.

What Is a One-Day Juice Cleanse?

The Healthy Habit Daily Cleanse includes six fresh-pressed drinks enjoyed throughout one day. The drinks are spaced approximately two hours apart to create an easy schedule from morning through evening.

The goal is not to starve yourself or force your body to “detox.” Your liver, kidneys, lungs, and digestive system already work every day to process and remove waste. Instead, we look at a one-day cleanse as an intentional wellness reset: a day to step away from alcohol, sodas, heavily processed foods, and mindless snacking while focusing on hydration and plant-forward ingredients.

What Are the Potential Benefits?

Everyone’s experience is different, and no specific result is guaranteed. However, a thoughtfully planned one-day cleanse may offer:

  • A convenient way to enjoy a variety of fruits and vegetables

  • Additional fluids throughout the day

  • Naturally occurring vitamins, minerals, and plant compounds

  • A structured break from alcohol, sodas and heavily processed foods

  • An opportunity to notice hunger, energy, and everyday eating patterns

  • A simple mental reset before returning to balanced, whole-food meals

Some people say they feel lighter or more intentional after their cleanse. Others may feel hungry, tired, or experience a caffeine-withdrawal headache. Listening to your body is always more important than completing a cleanse perfectly.

How to Prepare for Your Cleanse

You do not need to follow an extreme diet before cleansing. A little preparation can simply make the day feel smoother.

One or Two Days Before

  • Drink water regularly without forcing excessive amounts.

  • Choose balanced meals with vegetables, fruit, whole grains, protein, and healthy fats.

  • Limit alcohol, fried foods, and very heavy meals.

  • If you regularly drink a lot of caffeine, consider gradually reducing it instead of stopping suddenly.

  • Get a good night of sleep.

  • Choose a cleanse day without an intense workout, long trip, or especially demanding schedule.

  • Keep all six drinks refrigerated until you are ready to enjoy them.

There is no need for a “last meal” or to under-eat before the cleanse. Begin nourished and hydrated.

A Day in the Life of a Healthy Habit Cleanse

This is our suggested schedule, but you can adjust the timing to fit your day. Shake each bottle well and sip slowly.

When You Wake Up: Water

Start with a glass of water. Add a squeeze of lemon if you enjoy it, but lemon water is optional not a requirement for cleansing, but water, is a requirement.

8–9 AM: The Detox

Spinach, celery, apple, lemon, and ginger

Begin with a fresh green juice featuring leafy greens, crisp celery, apple, lemon, and a bright kick of ginger.

11 AM: Orange Burst

Orange, carrot, and ginger

This vibrant mid-morning juice combines naturally sweet orange and carrot with warming ginger.

1 PM: The Cure

Orange, cucumber, beet, carrot, turmeric, ginger, and cayenne

Your lunchtime juice brings together colorful produce with turmeric, ginger, and a touch of cayenne.

3 PM: Revitalize

Spinach, celery, cucumber, apple, lemon, and mint

A refreshing green juice with cucumber, lemon, and mint for the middle of your afternoon.

5 PM: Heart Beet

Beet, carrot, apple, cucumber, and lemon

This earthy-sweet blend delivers a colorful combination of beets, carrots, apple, cucumber, and lemon.

7–8 PM: Oat Yeah

Housemade oat “milk,” vanilla, and cinnamon

Finish your cleanse day with a creamy, lightly sweet blend of oats, vanilla, and cinnamon.

What Can You Drink Between Juices?

Drink water according to your thirst throughout the day. Unsweetened herbal tea is another comforting option, especially if you are accustomed to having a warm beverage.

What If You Get Hungry?

Being hungry does not mean you failed.

A juice cleanse is naturally lower in fiber, protein, and fat than a typical day of balanced meals. If you become very hungry or do not feel well, eat something. Choose a simple snack or light meal such as:

  • Berries

  • Avocado

  • Bone or Vegetable Broth

  • A smoothie with protein

You can still have an intentional wellness day even if you decide that your body needs solid food.

Can You Exercise During a Cleanse?

Keep movement light and restorative. Walking, gentle yoga, stretching, or an easy mobility session are usually better choices than a strenuous workout.

A cleanse day is not the ideal time for a long run, heavy strength training, or an intense exercise class. Your energy intake and needs may not match your normal routine.

How Should You Eat Afterward?

There is no need to celebrate the end of your cleanse with an enormous meal. Ease back into balanced foods and continue drinking water. The most meaningful part of a cleanse is what comes next. Use the experience as encouragement to keep adding whole foods, colorful produce, hydration, movement, and rest to your everyday routine.

Not Ready for a Full Cleanse?

You do not have to dedicate an entire day to enjoy fresh-pressed juice. Add one to breakfast, enjoy an elixir after a walk on the beach, or choose one of our wellness bundles:
